Planning for Emerging Infectious Disease Pandemics

چکیده
Problem, research strategy, and findings Planners have not paid enough attention to managing the risk of emerging infectious diseases (EIDs), which COVID-19 is most recent manifestation. Overlooking aggressive policies manage this zoonotic viruses reassorting between sick animals humans misses greatest opportunity for stopping future disease pandemics. In study we review several disciplines, outline scant planning literature on EIDs, identify increasing calls from virologists medical professionals address urbanization as a key EID driver. Using case avian influenza outbreaks in Vietnam 2004 2005, conceptualize preventive approach transmission that results pandemics.Takeaway practice We make recommendations planners. Practicing planners should consider how their plans through land use community planning. Planning education certification organizations develop positions regarding role EIDs. Food systems importance livestock practices food production factor Diverse teams combine geographic scales, data sources, disciplinary knowledge examine an extended series upstream downstream events can result global pandemic. Such empirical examination lead effective greatly reduce risk.

Emerging Problems in Infectious Diseases Influenza pandemics: a historical retrospect
The recent global outbreak of human cases of swine origin influenza A (H1N1) has spread fear that this virus will be of pandemic proportions causing high morbidity and mortality. While it is too early to determine the pandemic nature of swine origin influenza A (H1N1), it may be useful to look at the history of influenza pandemics described since recorded history. The first well-documented outb...

Infectious diseases account for a third of all the deaths in the developing world. Achievements in understanding the basic microbiology, pathogenesis, host defenses and expanded epidemiology of infectious diseases have resulted in better management and reduced mortality. However, an emerging infectious disease, melioidosis, is becoming endemic in the tropical regions of the world and is spreadi...
متن کاملCanine Bartonellosis: an Emerging Infectious Disease
INTRODUCTION Bartonella species are fastidious gram-negative bacteria that are highly adapted to a mammalian reservoir host and within which the bacteria usually cause a long-lasting intraerythrocytic bacteremia.1,2 In the natural host, chronic bacteremia with a Bartonella species can frequently be detected by culture or PCR in seemingly healthy individuals. Until recently, mechanisms that faci...
متن کاملSaccharomyces cerevisiae fungemia: an emerging infectious disease.
BACKGROUND Saccharomyces cerevisiae is well known in the baking and brewing industry and is also used as a probiotic in humans. However, it is a very uncommon cause of infection in humans. METHODS During the period of 15-30 April 2003, we found 3 patients with S. cerevisiae fungemia in an intensive care unit (ICU). An epidemiological study was performed, and the medical records for all patien...
